Nick was born February 16, 1984 in Pontiac, Mich. He has three siblings: an older brother and two younger sisters. He is currently a student at Wayne State University studying journalism. His greatest goal is to take his degree and dog south, to Charleston, S.C. where he can find home in historic architecture and seaside life.

Hurley was born September 23, 2006 in Sunfield, Mich. the sole pup of a litter but was raised to eight weeks with a couple of shiba inu pups, a breed similar to his own, the kai ken. The kai is a new breed to the United States, brought over seas in 1990, and there are now roughly 400 of them in the country. The kai is a japanese breed of spitz, similar to the shiba and akita, but between the two in size. Hurley's personality is still developing, but at this stage he shows vast intelligence, calm, and a profound curiosity when confronting the growing world around him.
The two have begun a journey into playing, walking, begging, laying on the couch, and cleaning up accidents. This is their story, through his words.
